Godfrey Yogarajah, an ardent campaigner for religious freedom is a graduate of the Union Biblical Seminary in Pune, India with a B.Th and a B.D. He was awarded the 'Good Samaritan' award by Advocates International in 2004, in recognition of his contribution to promoting religious freedom worldwide. In 2005, he was awarded the 'Pro Fide' Award by the Friends of Martyrs Finland for his work on behalf of religious freedom and minority rights. In August 2015, he was also bestowed the title ‘Deshamanya’, the second highest national honour, by the government of Sri Lanka for meritorious service to the nation.
At present, Mr. Yogarajah serves as the Associate-Secretary General for Alliance Development and the Executive Director of the Religious Liberty Commission of the World Evangelical Alliance. He is also the General Secretary of the National Christian Evangelical Alliance of Sri Lanka, a position he has held for the past 25 years and the Chairman of the International Institute for Religious Freedom of the WEA. (IIRF) Formerly, he has also served as the General Secretary of the Evangelical Fellowship of Asia.
Mr. Yogarajah spends a considerable amount of his time advocating for religious freedom with International Institutions and governments on behalf of the persecuted Church. He also frequently travels to restricted nations to train Christian leaders to withstand persecution.
