Christian Abducted in Orissa

General December 18, 2008

Hindu extremists on December 16 attacked a Christian and abducted him in Orissa’s state Ganjamendi, Nuagaon Block.

According to Rev. Ashish Paride, an EFI correspondent, Jubarai Digal, a Christian contractor in Ganjamendi was returning home on a motor bike with his son when the extremists attacked him and verbally abused his faith.

They stopped him and mercilessly beat him up. His son managed to escape from the scene and informed the incident in Nuagaon police station.

Police soon arrived at the spot but they found nobody. The motor bike was also gone. Police have registered a MISSING case under FIR NO. 400, dated 17.12.08. At press time, the whereabouts of Digal was not known. Police investigation is going on.

Please pray for Orissa and that Christians will be able to celebrate the birth of Christ peacefully.
