"I looked for a man among them who would build up the wall and stand before me in the gap on behalf of the land so I  would not have to destroy it, but I found none". Ezekiel 22:30

Dear Friends

These words from the Word of God in Ezekiel are exactly why we call the nations to come together for the Global Day of Prayer on 31 May 2009 – to be the ones standing in the gap on behalf of the land.  In these troubled times with wars, political turmoil, disease, disasters and financial instability we notice that there is a deepening need for believers to Seek God’s Face and to humble themselves before Him.

During the next few weeks we would like to give you some exciting news from the different continents.

On 2 May 2004 history was made when Christians from all 56 nations of Africa participated in the first ever continental Day of Repentance and Prayer for Africa.  Numerous communities, villages, towns and cities united in non-denominational prayer gatherings at different venues.  The impact in the Body of Christ was huge and in a nation like Cote d’Ivoire leaders from Evangelical and Charismatic backgrounds reconciled on stage and established a platform for unity in the church that stands until today. A flame of prayer was burning in Africa!

An invitation from Africa went out to the nations of the world to participate in a Global Day of Prayer process and this year, 2009, all 56 nations will once again participate on 31 May.  >From the North to the South, from the East to the West, believers are preparing in earnest for events that will both be diverse but also unifying

From the South of Sudan we have reports of about 10 cities that will be participating.  In Khartoum they are expecting more or less 1000 people to gather in the centre of the city on the Camboni grounds. Their coordinator reports:  “The GDOP means to us joining the world in united prayer, praying for the situation in the country, uniting the Church as the body of Christ and praying for revival and transformation of the situation in the world.”

In the war ravaged provinces of the Democratic Republic of Congo they are receiving reports from many villages and towns who will be participating – even more than ever. “We are overwhelmed by demands for materials. One of these amazing calls comes from the Pygmies’ church in the Ituri forest of DRC! Their pastor travelled 70 km to request a copy of the ten days program.”

Prayer is as vast and mighty as God, because He has committed Himself to answer it. All that God is, and all that God has, is at the disposal of prayer!

Yes Lord, may “the earth be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD as the waters cover the sea.” Hab. 2:14.

We pray this in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit! Amen”

Many Blessings and Love
