A group of about 40 Hindutva extremists ransacked the Novitiate of the Presentation Sisters and assaulted two of its inmates on May 15, 2008 in Gondarmug village in the outskirts of Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh.
This incident took place, at around 6.30 pm in the evening when the miscreants armed with hockey sticks, cricket bats and stones barged forcibly into the convent campus and vandalized the Convent.
Shouting at sisters saying, “we are Hindus and we do not want you here” the radicals climbed up the first floor of the two storied building and dragged two of the inmates. They tried to lock one of them into a room. The sisters, however, managed to escape from them and lodged a police complaint immediately against the unidentified persons at Gandhi Nagar Police Station, Bhopal.
The National Minority Commission has also intervened into the matter and has assured to take appropriate action.
The convent is working for the lower section of the people for the last six years.
The Investigation Officer Inspector Jha informed Evangelical Fellowship of India that 13 people have been arrested Under Section 147, 452, 426,149 and 506 of the IPC and have been sent to the Bhopal Central Jail. Nine of them have been released on bail.
Kindly pray for Gods protection on Novitiate of the Presentation Sisters and also for the justice to be granted to the sisters.
