The Evangelical Fellowship of India (EFI) welcomes the proposal of St. Stephen’s College for allotting a percentage of seats to the Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe and Christian students. EFI affirms this move as Stephen's is a minority institution and we hope that other minority institutions will also follow suit.

The college will offer 40 percent seats to Christians and 20 percent seats to Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe students. Reverend Valson Thampu, the principal of the college stated, “St Stephen’s must have a conscience and a duty towards society and the poor. We cannot keep SC/ST students out”.

The Supreme Council, the apex decision-making body of the college will make the final decision regarding the quota shortly.

Rev. Richard Howell,
General Secretary.
