Welcome! We hope you will enjoy using these reflections with us!
REFLECTION In the story of God's people, there were always people that, without officially calling themselves prophets, were identified as such in the Scriptures, says Erika Izquierdo from Micah Challenge in Latin America. In the attached reflection on the book of Micah, 6 signs are listed that allow us to recognize a prophet. Please meditate on Micah 3, 1 – 8 which gives characteristics of true and false prophets. 'Micah was a peasant and his preaching is simple, direct and passionate…The Lord called Micah because he, as a peasant, suffered from the very situation of injustice that God wanted to denounce.'
Let us pray:
* That we will be in touch with our reality in general and that of our people in particular (one of the characteristics of a prophet- see reflection).
* Please pray for the beginnings of a Micah Challenge campaign in
. A small steering group has formed who will discuss the development of the campaign and their participation in the Blow the halftime whistle campaign. - Please pray for wisdom and God's guidance as they plan their strategy. - Please pray for Ines Lompo and Mbairodbbee Njegollmi as they are coordinating the group.
* Please see statistic below: Let us lift up to God the young people of our countries. - Please pray that HIV/AIDS promotion will be effective in meeting young people where they are rather than were people think they ought to be.
MEDITATE ON THE STATISTICS
As you spend time in prayer and reflection, you may like to take a moment to silently understand with your heart the focus statistic we include each week (see below). Our hope is that you will find this series of statistics a useful resource in preparing presentations.
