Conflict Transformation and Reconciliation
Latent and open conflicts within and between communities are a major obstacle for lasting change. They are the source of the problems many are facing in their daily lives. Where Christian mission and aid agencies get involved, their projects and programmes inevitably both impact and are impacted by the conflict dynamics of their host community. God’s mission is a mission of holistic reconciliation; a reconciliation that encompasses a person’s relationship to God, to his own self, to others and to creation. Conflicts within churches and denominations as well as the understanding of the nature of the church significantly influence whether Christian communities will be agents for divisions or reconciliation in their communities.
The CCD 2010 conference will provide a series of presentations from international speakers on conflict transformation and reconciliation theory and examples from practice, a series of theological reflections on reconciliation, and opportunities for networking, discussion, sharing and prayer.
Generally English will be used as conference language. Translation is offered in German for the plenary sessions and the Basic’s 1 track is completely in German.
