THE MORNING AFTER: EFC PRESIDENT SHARES THOUGHTS ON ELECTION
Bruce J. Clemenger, president of The Evangelical Fellowship of Canada (EFC), shares his thoughts and insights into the election that has dramatically changed the political landscape in Canada.


EFC APPLIES TO INTERVENE IN RELIGIOUS EXPRESSION CASE
The EFC has applied to the Supreme Court of Canada to intervene in the case of Saskatchewan Human Rights Commission v. Whatcott. The case involves the expression of religious comment in public policy dialogue. The EFC is one of 20 applicant organizations. Please pray that our application will be successful. The case is scheduled to be heard on October 12, 2011. Read the  EFC’s application.


EFC FILES ARGUMENTS IN PARENTAL RIGHTS CASE
The EFC’s written arguments in the Quebec parental rights case S.L. v Commission Scolaire Des Chênes have been filed with the Supreme Court of Canada. The case is scheduled to be heard on May 18. For the first time, the EFC has developed the arguments in both official languages and will be arguing this case in French. Read the arguments.


EFC BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETS THIS WEEK
The EFC Board of Directors meets in Ottawa this week. The Board, comprised of ministry leaders and professionals from across Canada, meets face to face semi-annually. This spring the meeting in the EFC's Ottawa office. Please pray for the Board and President as they meet — and for the vital and unique ministry of the EFC.

EFC LEGAL COUNSEL TO SPEAK ABOUT RELIGIOUS FREEDOM
Faye Sonier, EFC legal counsel, will speak about religious freedom at the Women’s Christian Temperance Union Convention on May 3 at Polson Park Free Methodist Church in Kingston, Ont.


EFC VP SPEAKS TO MEN’S GROUP
Don Hutchinson, vice-president of the EFC, will be the guest speaker at Kingston Bay Park Baptist Church Men’s Fellowship Breakfast on May 7. Hutchinson will speak on the theme "Living Life Purposefully in the Public Square."


EFC STAFF MEET WITH EMBASSY OFFICIALS
At the request of embassy officials, Don Hutchinson met with a representative from the Embassy of Croatia to discuss how religious organizations function and are recognized in Canada, including relationships in which the government provides funding for the provision of public services.


SEMINAR ON UNDERSTANDING YOUR MUSLIM NEIGHBOURS COMING UP
A seminar on understanding your Muslim neighbours and positively communicating the good news to them will be hosted by the Canadian Network of Ministries to Muslims (CNMM), Durham Region on June 11.  CNMM is a ministry partnership that operates on the EFC’s administrative and communications platform.
