ONE MINUTE MONTHLY UPDATE

Mentoring Retreat Held In Philippines

 pastors

TOPIC, Philippines held its first Mentoring Retreat this year for the CORE 300 pastors coming from Northern Luzon.  The theme for the retreat was, "Be Still Before the Lord," (Psalm 37:7). It was held at the Clark Development Center in Angeles City, Pampanga.

The thirty (30) core pastors who came spent much of the time listening to God as they practiced Lectio Divina (sacred reading) for two mornings. In the afternoon, they read and reflected on selected articles to deepen their walk with God and to strengthen their marriage and family.

The sharing times were very open, sincere and accompanied by both tears and laughter.  Many felt the fresh touch of God in their lives.  It was an experience they will continue to savor for quite sometime.

The Mentoring Retreat was not only a time to rest physically, but a time to refill their emotional tanks and recharge their spiritual batteries. As one aptly summarized it,

"After several weeks of physical and mental activities and pressure, here comes the TOPIC RETREAT which I thought would add pressure in my life...I praise and thank the Lord this retreat was a very refreshing time which I have been seeking and desiring to happen in my life this past week."

            pastors

Pastors Gil Balignasay and Philip Flores, members of TOPIC Executive Team facilitated the retreat.  Pastor Gil gave two devotional talks on the Dash of Your Life and Letting Your Light Shine. While Pastor Philip led the discussion on the CORE 300 Covenant and TOPIC's Decade of Impact

GREAT NEWS FROM BILD !

The Accrediting Commission of DETC (The Distance Education and Training Council) met on June 4-5, 2010 and granted accreditation to the Antioch School of Church Planting and Leadership Development.

antioch

The Antioch School is the first truly church-based and competency-based academic institution to receive accreditation by an agency recognized by the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and the U.S. Department of Education (USDE).  We are very proud of this accomplishment because DETC does not grant accreditation quickly or easily.  Our process took several years that included extensive Self-Evaluation Reports, a thorough Curriculum Review, an intense Site Visit by a six-member team, and specific Progress Reports.

Accreditation means that the quality of the Antioch School's degree programs has been affirmed by a rigorous peer review process of a respected, independent agency.  The Antioch School will be listed in the next edition of the Directory of Accredited Post-Secondary Institutions published by CHEA.  This will greatly facilitate transfer of credit and acceptance of prerequisite degrees by other academic institutions.

However, DETC accreditation is just the most recent form of affirmation of the quality of Antioch School programs.   We have already been endorsed by leaders of churches, church planting movements, and church networks, as well as other high profile ministry leaders.

Please rejoice with us in the news of this great achievement.

BILD International is led by Jeff Reed. The Antioch School is led by Steve Kemp, a TOPIC Board member. The ministry is based in Ames, Iowa

WRITER'S VISION WORKSHOPS IN INDIA

Writers' Vision Workshop were conducted in the cities of Ranchi (CNI centre), Cuttack (Amarjyothi ministries) and Bhuvaneswar (Baptist - Union Church) on 13 July, 15 July and 16 July respectively.  The workshops were organized by W. Job, P.K. Dass and Sanjeeb Dass.  Rev. J.N. Manokaran spoke on the biblical basis for writing and media; Writing connecting Text to context and Internet media.  The delegates were also given opportunity to write.
Many delegates shared that they understood new things like:  I now see Internet not just as networking tool, but tool for mission; Writing as mission; I have decided to start blogs; I thought it would be boring but enjoyed every minute; more time should have been given for writing practice; It should be conducted for at least three days.
