Fr. Anand Muttungal reports from Madhya Pradesh:

In an incident today (31st August 2008),a group Bajrangadal , Darm Raksha Sena activists tried to burn the effigy of missionaries in-front of the Nirmala Church, Gamapur Parish in Jabalpur district Madhya Pradesh. The protesters also tried it in-front of the St. Paul Cathedral, Jabalpur , Holy Trinity Church but the administration did not allow them to do anything in the district. It is to be noted that Jabalpur has about one lakh Christian population.

In Chattarpur district the volunteers of the VHP tied a flag of their organization on the gate of the Maria Matha School. Fr. Thomas said, "soon police reached the spot and got it removed. Later they tied it on the transformer in-front of the school." He said,"It is written on the flag 'who is the killer of Swami Lakshmanand Sarswati , church must answer'.

Responding to this Bishop of Jabalpur Dr. Jerald Almeda, appealed to Christians and to all Hindu Organizations to work peacefully to develop this state. Only peace can accelerate development. So he appealed to all to work for peace.
