Aloha Sisters and Brothers,
Today, I bring you warm Christian greetings in the name of the Triune God from the World Evangelical Alliance and the 420 million Christians we serve. As you meet together here in Hawaii for your 20th Congress, you do so at an important juncture in history. The challenges facing humanity are both complex and immense. Today the Church has a crucial role in responding to the current global reality.
We are deeply grateful for the role that Baptists play in the World Evangelical Alliance and our National Evangelical Alliances. In almost every Alliance, Baptists are playing a key leadership role. The inter-connectedness of Baptists and other evangelicals is a demonstration of your commitment to the unity in the Body of Christ.
I recognize that the Baptist World Alliance shares many of the same concerns as the World Evangelical Alliance. Your commitment to world evangelism, proclaiming God’s grace, serving the poor, speaking out for Religious Liberty, and a passion for the transformative work of the Holy Spirit, strikes a deep chord in the heart of all evangelical Christians.
It is our prayer that as you hear the Spirit and respond to His direction the Lord will continue to bless, guide and empower you as you seek to live out the liberating message of the Gospel. May the name of Christ be uplifted and His grace be proclaimed in all the nations of the world for the Glory of God.
With Best Wishes
Sincerely in Christ,
Reverend Dr. Geoff Tunnicliffe
