he purpose of the WEA Religious Liberty Prayer Release is to keep you informed and mobilized in prayer and intercession for the needs of justice and religious liberty in the Church around the globe, so that we can stand together for the work of the Kingdom and the healing of the Nations. The Prayer Release is comprised on the basis of different credible Christian based resources.

Three Christians murdered in IRAQ[i][1] 

Aishwa Maroki (59) and his two sons, Mokhlas (31) and Bassim (25) were shot dead by unknown assailants, who forcibly entered their home on 23rd February 2010  in Mosul. Iraq. The three Christian men killed were relatives of Father Mzen Ishoa, who in 2007 together with one more priest was kidnapped by unidentified assailants in the city of Mosul and later released.
Prayer points:
v     Pray for Aishwa Maroki's wife and daughter, who  was also at home during the murder but  was not harmed. May God be the comforter of the mourning widow and the children.
v     Pray for God’s protection over Christians in Iraq, threatened by the hostility of religious extremism.
v     Pray for the authorities in the country to be able to provide security and freedom of religion for all their citizens.     

Revocation of church-building permit reversed in INDONESIA[ii][2]
On 25th February 2010  a State Court in Bandung, West Java, Indonesiareversed the decision taken by the the Purwakarta regency government  in October 2009 to revoke the building permit for Santa Maria Catholic Church. The revocation of the permit was caused by Islamist threats towards local residents and officials because of the church construction project.  According to Compass Direct News report, church leaders said members of the Islamic Defenders Front  “continually terrorized” both the regent and residents who had previously given their approval for the church building. The head of the church legal team told Compass that the Purwakarta government is planning to appeal against the decision of the State Court, but church lawyers are optimistic that “construction likely would resume once the High Court in Jakarta rules.” 
Prayer points:
v    Pray for the success of the court case against the revocation of the building permit at the High Court level.
v    Pray that Christians in Santa Maria Catholic Church and Purwakarta regency might be encouraged and strengthened as a result of the undergone difficulties.
v    Pray that justice and religious freedom will prevail in Indonesia.  

Attacks against Christians in MEXICO[iii][3]
Voice of the Martyrs Canada and Voice of the Martyrs Mexico report of increasing attacks on believers by traditionalist religious and rebel groups in Chiapas, Mexico in recent months. Reports show that on 28th February 2010 , three Christians were shot and wounded on their way home from church services in the region of Mitziton, and rebel sympathizers assaulted approximately 40 Christians who were asleep in their homes in the city of Tumbala.
 
Prayer points:
v    Pray for the injured brothers and sisters in Mexico, as well as for their families.
v    Pray for Christians in Mexico to grow stronger in faith as a result of the suffering.
v    Pray for adequate governmental measures to the increased violence against Christians in the country.

More attacks against Christians in UZBEKISTAN[iv][4]
Forum 18 News Service reports again on continuous attacks against Christian communities in Uzbekistan and particularly against Baptists. Three leaders of the Baptist Union were on a public trial, broadcasted on the Uzbek state TV, in which they were forced to pay “what the Court claimed was unpaid tax” and “two were removed from their posts”, according to Forum 18. Another Baptist was forced to pay a fine after he refused to appear as a witness in the trial of three leaders of the Baptist Union. Forum 18 states that the described “is part of frequent state-sponsored media attacks on religious believers of all faiths and freedom of religion and belief.”
Prayer points:
v     Pray that state attacks against Christians will not be able to silence the voice and zeal of believers for the Kingdom.
v     Pray for the three leaders of the Baptist Union, against whom the trial was opened.
v     Pray for God’s move in the nation.
