The World Evangelical Alliance (WEA) is pleased to announce that the 2014 General Assembly will be held in Seoul, South Korea.
WEA’s International Director and CEO Rev. Dr. Geoff Tunnicliffe met with Rev. Kwang Sun Rhee, the president of the Christian Council of Korea (CCK), at the WEA Global Office in New York City to accept the generous offer of Seoul-based CCK to host the WEA Assembly.
“We are convinced that Seoul, Korea will be an ideal location for the WEA General Assembly,” Rev. Dr. Tunnicliffe stated. “The dynamic church in Korea will provide a strong foundation in prayer, as well as logistical support and assistance in obtaining visas for all our delegates. In addition, Korea’s advanced technological capacity will facilitate our efforts to broadcast the main sessions of the Assembly globally.”
“Korea hosting the 2014 WEA GA is a very historical event. It’s a great opportunity for Christians in Korea and around the world to collaborate together,” said Rev. Rhee.
Rev. Dr. Tunnicliffe continued, “We are deeply grateful for the Korean Church’s spirit of hospitality and generosity. The 2014 General Assembly will provide a significant and historic moment for the leaders of the global evangelical movement to engage in Kingdom work.”
The WEA General Assembly meets every six years to conduct the business of the Alliance; train its leaders; promote mutual learning and partnerships; build synergy and cast a vision for impacting the world. The 2014 gathering will also feature convocations for Korean Christians and a special track for Korean church leaders and pastors.
Rev. Dr. Tunnicliffe expressed hopes that the General Assembly would “be a blessing,” not only to Korean churches, but also to visitors who leave the gathering inspired and more deeply partnered with the Korean church.
