In the light of various controversies about Bible translation, Wycliffe Global Alliance and SIL International approached the WEA to independently review their best practice in the translation of “God the Father” and the “Son of God.” The WEA formed an independent Panel that has concluded its work and issued its report with recommendations for Wycliffe and SIL.
During the General Assembly 2019 WEA called the global church to a renewed commitment to holistic, intentional disciple-making – to follow Jesus personally and in community, inviting others into a journey of Christ-likeness in every area of their lives. A permanent team for the Decade of Disciple-Making has been formed that focuses on the following goals:
– Encouraging all leaders to practice disciple-making in their personal lives and advance it in their area of influence.
– Helping regional and national alliances to develop collaborative platforms by providing opportunities for connecting, learning and cooperation.
– Giving every leader access to relevant models, tools and opportunities for training.
WEA issues regular newsletters, conducts webinars, identifies resources, and connects global, regional, and national leaders. Online Forum for Disciple-Making was created which brings together over 250 leaders who are deeply committed to personal renewal and societal transformation. We are united in love and devoted to following Jesus, fostering unity in the body of Christ for the Decade of Holistic Disciple-Making.
In response to the global pandemic, the WEA has launched a COVID-19 task force, offering guidance and resources to alliances, church networks, and churches. On the website, you will find inspirational messages in videos, devotionals, resources for families with children, guidance for local churches and more.
