Christian killed in a bomb attack in IRAQ[i] Although Iraqi officials have stated that during the recent months violence in the country has decreased, VOM Canada reports that Christians and other minorities groups are still living in fear and danger for their faith. On 5th July 2010, the 54-year-old Behnam Sabti - nurse at the Mosul’s Jumhuriya hospital and a father of three children, was instantly killed when a bomb which was fixed to his car exploded. The planned attack against Behnam Sabti was clearly based on his religious identity as a professing Christian. No information by local authorities about results from investigation of the organized attack is available in the report of VOM Canada. Prayer points: v Pray that rights and freedom of Christians and minority groups in Iraq might be protected and granted as never before. v Pray that the Lord will enable and strengthen believers in Iraq to stand firm for their faith in spite the difficulties they are facing v Pray particularly for the mourning family of Behnam Sabti. Sealed church in INDONESIA[ii] Compass Direct News Service reports that since 11th April , 2010 The Gereja Kristen Indonesia (GKI) Taman Yasmin Church in Bogor, West Java, Indonesia, has held services on the roadside in front of the sealed church in stifling heat, after the mayor of the Bogor had sealed the church building. The church had received an official building permit from the Bogor City government, but because a Muslim group that objected to the presence of a church, its construction was stopped and later sealed. The church brought a law suit against the sealing of the church premises and in spite that it won the court case, permission has not been granted to use the building for worship. The church has filed a religious discrimination appeal with the United Nations Special Rapporteur on freedom of religion or belief.
Prayer points: v Pray that the local government in Bogor, Indonesia, might respect the rule of law and act justly in the situation with the (GKI) Taman Yasmin Church. v Pray together with our brothers and sisters in Bogor that the sealing of the church premises might be abolished and the believers could finish their construction. v Pray for true freedom of religion in all Indonesia.
