WEA and United Bible Societies Sign Agreement to Strengthen Partnership and Collaboration

Deerfield, IL – November 18, 2019
In a simple ceremony at the WEA General Assembly in Bogor City, Indonesia on November 11th, a ministry partnership between WEA and the United Bible Societies (UBS) had been formalized.
Bp Efraim Tendero, WEA Secretary General, said at the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), “We are so grateful for this partnership with United Bible Societies. UBS has the mandate of translating, publishing, distributing and engaging the Bible. WEA, on the other hand, is able to provide the network of national evangelical alliances in more than 130 countries around the world to work with UBS, particularly for 2020 which we have jointly declared as the Global Year of the Bible.”
UBS, a worldwide network of Bible societies in 200 countries and territories, was represented by Rev. Gunnar Mägi, Church Relations Manager. He said, “It is time to join forces in preparing for strategic activities and structure in enhancing and fulfilling the work of our organizations in pursuit of the Great Commission.”

The MoU represents the result of decades of fruitful collaboration and the process of consultation between WEA and UBS in view of a mutual commitment to continuing collaboration in all aspects of activity related to the Bible and service to all churches.
Signing as witnesses to this partnership were Mr. Godfrey Yogarajah, WEA Deputy Secretary General for Ministries, and Dr. Lloyd Estrada, WEA Global Bible Engagement Advocate.
