The Luke 10 Transformation Lifestyle of Prayer, Care and Share

Pray without ceasing. – 1 Thes. 5:17

When did we see You a stranger, and took You in? Or naked, and clothed You?   Or when did we see You sick, or in prison, and came to You?  And the King shall answer and say to them, Truly I say to you, Inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brothers, you have done it to Me.

– Matt. 25:38-40

… And you shall be witnesses to Me both in Jerusalem and in all Judea, and in Samaria, and to the end of the earth. – Acts 1:8b

We announced the new and exciting season for GDOP after GDOP2010 as "utilising the platform of the past season to establish a lifestyle of prayer by engaging as many people in as many places as possible."

The Luke 10 Transformation programme makes this physically possible as it allows all Christian adults, youth and children in a congregation or organisation to pray continuously during every day wherever they go! But even more – to care for the needy around them and reach out to people with the message of the Kingdom.

Jesus wants Christian believers all over the earth to live lives that reflect his instructions. His final point to us for the making of disciples is in fact "teaching them to observe all things, whatever I commanded you" (Matt. 28:20a).

What can the Church then do all over the globe to be salt and light in the world as Jesus commanded in Matt. 5:13-16?

In Luke 10:1 Jesus sends out 70/72 disciples to every town and place where He was about to go with certain instructions. In Luke 10:17 they return with joy and Jesus rejoices in the Spirit to the Father because of what happened as they executed his commands!

The Luke 10 Transformation programme enables all modern day Believers to do as the seventy did – every day of their lives; everywhere they go. Every means all Believers in a congregation, business or school – yes, in each of the cultural mountains of society as discussed in GDOP newsletter 3/2010! It includes the shy, the bold, the busy – the introvert and the extrovert!

The task of missions and evangelism is just too big and the workers too few – both in the cities and communities where Christians live as well as in the less or not evangelised countries and people groups. This is what Jesus cries out about in Luke 10:2 as he calls for prayer and then He sends the 70/72 in verse 3 with one word: Go

The Luke 10 Transformation programme transforms every Believer older than 3 and younger than a 100 years into an active evangelist, intercessor and helper of those in need, by following the steps that Jesus told the 70/72 to do – adapted for our modern times

In Step 1, the Luke 10 Transformation programme (L-10-T) allows every Believer in a congregation, school, university or organisation in the marketplace to pray continuously during the day for the people, places and tasks in his/her environment.

In Step 2, L-10-T helps them to identify people who do not have a relationship with Jesus as Saviour and to become friends with them.

In Step 3, L-10-T helps them to care for the needy (Christian or non-Christian) around them. Firstly, by trying to help, or encourage and/or then by praying to God that He will help.

In Step 4, L-10-T helps the 96% non-direct evangelists to be ready to answer questions from non-Believers and to lead them to Christ and to start the discipleship process.

A very specific application of L-10-T is the Take 5 application where every Believer undertakes to have 5 non-believers for whom he/she pray and care until they meet Christ every day. If somebody accepts Christ their place is filled with someone else. So every L-10-Ter will have 5 people for whom they stand before God by name for the rest of their lives!

We hear a good lecture or sermon and soon forget what was said. Seldom does it alter our lifestyle even if we think we should do it. To really acquire the Luke 10 Transformation lifestyle it is best to do the full training course (available to download).

In the training course there are then two elements that assure a new lifestyle of prayer, care and share. Firstly, like the 70/72 disciples you are encouraged to meet regularly (at least weekly) with the group with whom you did the training or your care/cell group to give feedback on what happened and be encouraged to do it another week. This can also be done before, in or after services. The second element is to choose an L-10-T friend to whom you commit to assist him/her until L-10-T is a lifestyle for him/her and who do the same to you!

Prayer is the core of this L-10-T lifestyle - a new way to pray 24/7 - for everyone!
