The Secretary General of World Evangelical Alliance, Thomas Schirrmacher, and the Chair of the National Church Alliance in the UEA, the national alliance in the United Arab Emirates, Sabu George, visited the Chargé d’Affaires of the US-Embassy in Abu Dhabi, Sean Murphy. They discussed matters of religious freedom for religious minorities in UAE and appreciated the upcoming law of the UAE allowing civil law for non-Muslims living in the UEA, over following the sharia rules or having to travel home for civil acts like marriage.
The United States Embassy in Abu Dhabi is currently headed by Sean Murphy as Chargé d’Affaires. Mr. Murphy holds the rank of Minister Counselor in the United States Foreign Service. The Biden Administration has not made an announcement on a nominee to be U.S. Ambassador for UAE yet.
