humedica is the third German aid organization to receive official certification from the World Health Organization (WHO). This is associated with the classification as an “Emergency Medical Team” (EMT). This was preceded by an audit by the WHO. “For us, this is a very important step in the future of medical disaster relief, as non-classified organizations will find it very difficult in the future to even enter countries affected by disasters,” says a statement from the Kaufbeuren-based organization. For humedica, the classification means a significantly higher organizational effort. The internationally recognized medical teams had previously been staffed with six people. In future, the “EMT 1 fixed” medical emergency team will consist of at least 18 emergency personnel, including at least three doctors, three coordinators, nine nurses (if possible a midwife) and three logisticians. After natural disasters, effective emergency aid would thus be possible even in remote regions. humedica sees itself as a “Christian interdenominational organization”. It is committed to the mission of Jesus to care for the sick. Christians from various churches, but also people who are not Christians, are involved in the outreach teams.
