SG meets Joan Okitoi in Geneva, Representing WEA to the International Partnership on Religion and Sustainable Development (PaRD) [August 2021]

Thomas Schirrmacher and his wife Christine spend time with Joan Okitoi on the beautiful Lake Geneva in Geneva, discussing enlarging WEA’s involvement within PARD, as Joan Okitoi represents WEA and the WEA Sustainability Center under the leadership of Matthias Boehning and Christ Elisara as a co-chair of a work stream of PARD around water and climate issues.

Joan Okitoi-Heisig is a communications specialist. Born and educated in Kenya, where she studied communications at at Daystar University, she went on to Germany receiving a Master of Arts MA in Development and Governance from the University of Duisburg-Essen. She worked in Bonn for the European Association of Development Research and Training Institutes (EADI) and the Lutheran World Federation and now is based in Geneva to be close to the international headquarters of the Red Cross, the World Council of Churches and the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN). She is also still part of the team of PIRON in Bonn. Herr passion is to help international religious development actors to better communicate about their work.
