Athens, Greece — Leaders from nine regional Evangelical Alliances and the secretariat of the World Evangelical Alliance (WEA) met for two days, 28-30 April, pledging unity and greater collaboration to advance a shared global witness. Most attended in person, with a few joining online.
The meetings addressed strengthening ties between the WEA and regional alliances, financial matters, and a plan to enhance collaboration for a shared vision of global witness.
Rev. Botrus Mansour, WEA Secretary General, described the atmosphere as “sweet, respectful and constructive.” “We sensed Christian unity across different cultures in the global body of Christ,” he said.
Participants spent meaningful time in prayer and worship, reinforcing the gathering’s spiritual focus alongside policy and strategy. Topics included discerning the times, leading as disciples of Christ, and cultivating a servant leadership culture within church leadership, with the Body of Christ cited as a guiding metaphor for unity.
The gathering was described as a strategic moment in history, calling Christians to rise to their part in advancing the gospel worldwide. There was emphasis on viewing the WEA as a global family, strengthening kinship among the diverse regional expressions of the church. The meeting also featured a visit from leaders of the Greek Evangelical Alliance.

The event closed with a visit to the city of Corinth. At this historic site, Christ as the cornerstone was brought to live. Affirming their collective identity as children of God, delegates partook in Holy Communion together.
