September was a full month for WEA Secretary General Rev. Botrus Mansour. Alongside a busy schedule of online engagements, including leading WEA’s 180th anniversary celebration across two time zones on September 23 and joining the WEA family for WEA Day on September 27, he spent much of the month on the road, meeting leaders and churches from Central Asia to the United States.
Strengthening the Central Asia Evangelical Alliance
The month began in Kazakhstan, where Rev. Mansour visited Almaty and Astana to strengthen the Central Asia Evangelical Alliance and to advocate for religious freedom in the region.
Praying for children at the United Nations
Rev. Mansour then flew to New York to spend time with WEA’s advocacy team at the United Nations. On September 21, just before the opening of the UN General Assembly, he took part in the 8th Annual UNGA Prayer Service for Children, “A Moment of Hope.” Organized by World Vision International to pray for the world’s most vulnerable children, the service was held in Tillman Chapel at the Church Center for the United Nations, across the street from UN Headquarters.
Truett Theological Seminary, Baylor University
From New York, Rev. Mansour traveled to Waco, Texas, to visit Truett Theological Seminary at Baylor University at the invitation of the seminary’s dean, Dr. Todd Still. Dr. Still introduced him to students, and Rev. Mansour answered questions from staff and students over lunch. He also took part in a panel discussion with the Catholic Bishop of El Paso, Mark J. Seitz.
Oral Roberts University
In Tulsa, Oklahoma, Rev. Mansour attended chapel at Oral Roberts University, toured the campus and met ORU President Dr. Billy Wilson, who also serves as Global Chair of Empowered21 and Chair of the Pentecostal World Fellowship.
Maranatha Chapel, San Diego
In San Diego, Rev. Mansour was welcomed to Maranatha Chapel by Senior Pastor Rev. Daniel Bentley, a friend of more than 20 years. On WEA Day, he preached at three services, sharing about the work of the WEA around the world, and also held meetings and engaged with students.
WEA Executive Committee, Florida
Finally, Rev. Mansour traveled to Florida for a fruitful meeting of the WEA Executive Committee at the OneHope headquarters in Pompano Beach. The committee reviewed WEA’s strategic initiatives, finances and organizational matters.
Please join us in praying for Rev. Mansour and the WEA team as they continue to serve the global evangelical family, and that the relationships built this month will bear lasting fruit for the Gospel.
