URGENT PRAYER REQUEST
Last Sunday evening, February 17th, gunmen acted the Police Station in Bartica, Guyana leaving 13 dead. The deceased included three policemen and ten civilians. This follows an attack on the village of Lusignan where eleven persons, including five children, were slaughtered during a robbery on January 26, 2008. This is an unprecedented level of violence for Guyana and the Caribbean.
The Evangelical Association of the Caribbean is requesting urgent prayer for the people of Guyana. Please pray that:
The presence and peace of God would be manifested in Guyana and God would comfort those who mourn.
God would grant wisdom to the security forces who seek to apprehend and bring to justice the persons who are perpetrating these horrible crimes.
Guyanese in their hour of need would find strength and resolve in Jesus Christ.
The Government of Guyana has posted a reward of GUY$50 million (US$250,000) leading to the arrest of the person believed to have planned these killings. Up-to-date information on the situation can be had at www.guyanachronicle.com.
Please share this prayer request as widely as you can. Sustained intercessory prayer is urgently needed.
