Kandhamal (Orissa): On October 8, at midnight, members of Bajrang Dal entered the house of Advocate Mrutyunjaya Nayak in Kandhamal, Orissa through the roof entry.

Then they tried to break the door which was bolted from inside. They shouted and tried to break the door down, however they were unable to do so.

Thereafter they closed the bedroom of Mr. Nayak and illegally confined him there. However, Mr. Nayak was able to contact another advocate who lives close by.

Advocate Rama Rao with the help of CRPF personnel and the police then rescued Mr. Nayak.

Mr. Nayak has filed an FIR in the G. Udayagiri Police Station. He stayed one night in the relief camp before leaving town.

Pastor harassed in Uttar Pradesh

Uttar Pradesh: Hindutva fundamentalists having affiliation to the Rashtriya Swayam Sewak (RSS) and Bajrang Dal group harassed pastor Jallal Masih belonging to Assemblies of God Church on October 12 in Anola, Uttar Pradesh.

Pastor Jallal said that around 10 am on Sunday morning a group of 15-20 radicals led by one Sanjeev Saxena, forcibly barged into the church using abusive language and denounced Christ. They further, damaged the furniture and the Bibles that were present and threatened Pastor Jallal not to worship in the area again.

According to pastor Jallal, the place that was being used by him for worship belonged to the Methodist church and was given to him by late Pastor Harminder Singh about 4-5 yrs ago to run the AG Church.

After the death of Pastor Singh, his wife Mrs. Vimal Singh who is a Hindu, demanded the place to be vacated as nothing was given in writing to Pastor Jallal to use the place for worship.

When pastor Jallal refused to evacuate the premises Mrs. Singh took the help of local RSS activists to harass Pastor Jallal to create a pressure on him.

When Christian Legal Association spoke to SDM Mr. Mukesh Chandra he informed that an inquiry has been set into the matter and no further action has been taken till press time.

Christian team attacked in Andhra Pradesh

Nalgonda (Andhra Pradesh): Operational Mobilization’s (OM) Christian media team was attacked by a group of Hindutva radicals on October 14 in Kamareddygudem village of Nalgonda district in Andhra Pradesh.

According to reports,in the evening at about 8 p.m the teams compromising of five Christians were screening a film on Jesus, when a group of fundamentalists arrived on motor bikes and began assaulting the Christians belonging to the OM team.

They further destroyed the equipment worth more than Rs 200,000.

When contacted Inspector Chari, informed Christian Legal Association, that the Christians were sent for treatment to the Miyalaguda Govt hospital. The accused namely Lingaiah, Raju, Venkatreddy, Ramesh and Sundaraiah were later arrested under Section 143 and 298 read with 34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC)vide the FIR no: 79/08.

They were released on bail on October 20.

Missionaries attacked in Ranchi, Jharkhand
Ranchi (Jharkhand):
Brother Simon reports: Four Missionaries belonging to Believers Church were attacked by Sangh Parivar activists last evening in Chutia, under Ranchi District. In the attack one missionary Brother Pakhiaraj was beaten very badly and sustained severe injuries. Further news are awaited.
