Hindu extremists allegedly from the Rashtriya Swayamsavak Sangh on January 17 disrupted a prayer meeting and beat up Christians in Udaipur , Rajasthan.

Rev. Sanjay Paul, an EFI correspondent reported that at about 11 p.m,. Hindu extremists barged into the worship meeting of Faith Calvary Church in Medifala, Tidi, beat up pastor Surajjth Bhagari and church members leaving 11 with serious injuries.

The meeting was held at the house of one believer identified only as Dhana on Saturday evening.Rushing into the prayer meeting with swords, axes and sticks, the extremists verbally abused the Christians for their faith and activities and started beating them up, not even sparing women.

The Christians lodged a police complaint against the attackers on Saturday itself but police refused to register First Information Report. Christians received first aid treatment at the Government hospital but the administrations refused to give medical certificate.

As the injuries sustained by the Christians were severe, Dr T.M Omkar, Director of The Faith Calvary Ministry took the Christians to the Mewar private Hospital where they were admitted and given full treatment

On Tuesday, (19 Jan) local Christian leaders lodged a police complaint at Gordhan Bilas police station. First Information Report was registered and six extremists were arrested under Sections 147, 148,149,452,323 of the Indian Penal Code for rioting, armed with deadly weapons, unlawful assembly in prosecution of common object, house trespass and punishment for voluntarily causing hurt respectively. The attackers were released on bail the same day.

Please pray for the members of Faith Calvary Church and for peace and religious tolerance in Rajasthan.
