“After this I looked, and behold, a great multitude that no one could number, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, with palm branches in their hands, and crying out with a loud voice, Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!” Rev. 7:9-10 (ESV)
Over the last 10 years, since it’s humble beginnings in 2001 in Cape Town, South Africa, the Global Day of Prayer has grown into a movement drawing Christians from all nations before the throne of God. This annual day of repentance and prayer has become a united cry across every country of the world to see the glory of God fill the earth as He responds to their prayers for healing and restoration.
In 2010 as we celebrate His Story, His Glory and His Call this cry will once again echo across the earth as His people will “humble themselves, pray, seek His face and turn from their wicked ways” 2 Chron. 7:14.
23 May 2010 will be a day of the rendering of our hearts, as God’s people will turn to God to worship Him and to intercede for their nations.
As you organise your local events we would once again encourage you to visit our website www.globaldayofprayer.com. Here you will find all the resources to help you mobilize your event from videos(now in high quality format) to presentationsand prayer guides. You are also able to register online.
Currently 105 countries have registered and it would be awesome if we could reach 200 before the start of the festive season. Please ensure that we receive your registration as soon as possible as this will enable us to connect you with others in your nation who are also involved in the Global Day of Prayer.
Apart from the global process the Global Day of Prayer will also host a conference in Cape Town from 19 – 23 May 2010 to celebrate the untold stories of the unknown heroes of faith. It will be a time of teaching, sharing, connecting and celebrating as we seek God’s face for the future beyond 2010.
At this event we dream to see at least one couple from every country in the world present. We do not want you to neglect your involvement in your local process, but we will be blessed by your presence in Cape Town as we will gather from all around the world. Please register for this event urgently by visiting www.gdop2010.com and please inform us if you are coming!
For your convenience we have moved the early bird registration to 31 January 2010.
Please be with us in prayer as we plan for Global Day of Prayer in 2010 as well as for the conference. We are still desperately in need of a financial breakthrough and trust that God will provide for this vision to saturate the nations in prayer.
May the Lord bless you during the next few weeks before we celebrate of our Lord Jesus Christ and may you experience love, joy, peace and happiness in abundance.
Many Blessings The GDOP Team
