“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans for wholeness and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will hear from you. You will seek Me and find Me. When you seek me with all your heart, I will be found by you, declares the LORD, and I will bring you back to the place from which I sent you into exile.”Jer 29:11-14 (ESV)
We trust that you had a well-deserved break over the festive season and that you have been renewed and strengthened by the message of the Immanuel.
2009 was indeed one of the most strenuous years in decades. The global economic melt down has had its impact on all spheres of life and created huge challenges for most ministries. However, it was also a time of new opportunities to preach the Good News and to step out in faith with joy, despite the circumstances (Hab. 3:17 – 19).
We believe that 2010 will be a truly significant year and we challenge you to join us on this journey towards healing and restoration in our nations as we humble ourselves before God, as we pray and seek His face and as we turn from our wicked ways (2 Chron. 7:14). God has a future for his children and 2010 will be a year of many opportunities IF his church will rise up and realize that future through the power of prayer.
Here at our International Office in Cape Town, South Africa, we are in great anticipation to receive and bless the nations on 3 different occasions in 2010: In May we will welcome participants from all the nations to the GDOP 2010 Conference hosted in Cape Town from 19 – 22 May Go to www.gdop2010.com for more detail and registration. During this time we will share the stories of the unknown heroes of faith from around the globe, strengthen our friendships and seek His face on the way forward in the prayer movement. The deadline for Early Bird Registration is 31 January so hurry up and register! We would love to have at least one couple from every nation at the stadium event in Cape Town on 23 May!
On 23 May, as the nations gather around the world, we will gather in prayer at the same stadium where the Global Day of Prayer was birthed 10 years ago in 2001! Last year every single nation in the world gathered in repentance and prayer on GDOP and we challenge you to register your nation’s participation as soon as possible at www.globaldayofprayer.com . Currently 111 nations have already registered.
The 3rd significant event hosted by South Africa in 2010 will be Lausanne III Congress on World Evangelization where delegates from all over the world will gather in Cape Town to pray, think and strategize on the completion of the Great Commission. This will truly be a significant time with some of the key leaders in the world.
In June of 2010 South Africa will be host to the Soccer World Cup with millions of people from many nations visiting our nation. This is a time to bless the nations with hospitality, but it also creates many opportunities for the church and ministries to serve and share the Gospel of Jesus. Of course big events like these bring their own challenges with things like drug and alcohol abuse, human trafficking and many other evils. As much as we invite you to visit our nation, we also challenge you to pray for our nation from 11 June to 11 July 2010.
We are so aware that God is busy with many significant things in every nation. Be assured of our prayers for you as we all continue on the journey to see the fulfillment of the Hab. 2:14 promise: “For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD as the waters cover the sea.”
Please do visit the different websites for more information. It is critical that you register your nations participation for GDOP as soon as possible. You can also download all the resources you need for your event from the website.
May you be blessed and may 2010 be the year of significant spiritual breakthroughs in all our nations. Thank you for your friendship and partnership and for all that you are doing to advance the Kingdom of God!
