Dear Friends,

The International Day of Prayer (IDOP) for the persecuted church 2011, is just a few months away! The designated date for IDOP 2011, is Sunday, November 13 (Sunday, November 6 in the UK and Ireland), however you are free to choose another date in November if you wish to join in prayer in this global, annual event to pray for the suffering church worldwide.

There are many countries in the world today where Christians are persecuted for their faith. Believers in some Islamic countries such as Afghanistan and Pakistan face death threats; Christians in and many other countries all around the world face violence, imprisonment, discrimination and even death. There are thousands of Christians from who have fled their homes and countries due to persecution and there are other places in the world such as North Korea where acts of persecution take place, but little is known to the outside world.

International Day of Prayer is set apart for us to remember thousands of our Christian brothers and sisters such as these from around the world who suffer persecution, simply because they confess Jesus Christ as Lord.

So, we invite you to find out more about IDOP 2011 and download special resources designed to help you get involved and pray effectively for the persecuted. Please visit the IDOP international website at www.idop.org  and join fellow Christians worldwide in praying for persecuted Christians this November.

The 2011 IDOP website and resources are brought to you by the World Evangelical Alliance Religious Liberty Commission (WEA RLC) in partnership with Release International UK. We also invite organisations willing to join this initiative to contact us in order to further promote the International Day of Prayer.

Furthermore we encourage you to send us any resources that you would like to share that would be helpful in further improving the IDOP website.

You can e-mail all material to [email protected]

You hear, O LORD, the desire of the afflicted; you encourage them, and you listen to their cryPsalm 10:17

Join us in prayer this November!
