Learning to Love

God wants to change us into people who are truly noble, people who reflect an unswerving confidence in who He is that equips us to face all of life and still remain faithful. Spirituality built on pretence is not spirituality at all. God wants us to be courageous people who are deeply bothered by the horrors of living as part of a fallen race, people who look honestly at every struggle, who feel overwhelmed by what we see, yet emerge prepared to live. Scarred, still troubled, but deeply loving.
(Inside Out by Dr Larry Crabb, page 19)

Earthquake in Turkey

Further devastation experienced in Turkey as a second earthquake hits. Lets stand together with those affected and those responding to their needs. Pray for God to mobilise the church in Turkey to be present and supportive of all those affected.

South Sudan Fighting

Still only a fledgling country, fighting is erupting along the border with North Sudan, fuelled by years of mistrust, the on-going Darfur conflict and power agendas! Pray that leaders at all levels will have wisdom to lead with integrity and to seek peaceful negotiations with one another.

Micah Network is hoping to facilitate an integral mission conversation in South Sudan in the coming months. Pray:

For contacts with the Christian leaders within South Sudan who could help host and participate in this important gathering

For discernment on where and when to hold this meeting

For an opening to really help link up Christians with the relief, development and reconciliation initiatives that are on-going

Zambia: 15th to 17th November

The integral mission conversation and reconciliation workshop covering Malawi, Zimbabwe, Zambia and a few participants from other Africa countries starts on the 15th. Please pray for:

- Safe travel of all those involved
- Inspiring and challenging time together where we wrestle through the issues of integral mission in the context Africa
- A move of God to open hearts to His Spirit and call to holistic mission
- Smooth logistics
- Fellowship and friendship

Increased Awareness

We often focus on prayer for events or county issues. Let us spend some time focusing on our own neighbours and communities. Pray that God would open our eyes to see and understand the make- up and needs of our community where we live.

On the street where you live: list 5 neighbours closest to your home and start to pray for them

In your work place: list 5 colleagues you work with and start to pray for them.

In your church: list 5 people who attend your church and start to pray for them

Pray that God would increase your awareness of their needs and give you a word of encouragement for each of them this week. Where a practical needs exists pray for wisdom on how you can help with it.

Micah Network Members

We currently have 585 members in 81 countries. A number of these members have not been in contact with us for some time. This could be for a number of reasons; the usual one is that the focal person we were linked to have moved on and we have somehow lost contact. Please pray for us as we try and re link up with all who have joined us over the years.

In each country where we have members we long for an integral mission conversation to take place at least annually. Please pray that God would raise up organisations and people who have a passion to help facilitate this in their countries.

We so far have national coordination groups in:
• Bangladesh
• Cambodia
• Indonesia
• Nepal
• Pakistan
• Uganda

Please pray for each coordination group that they would be able to mobilise members and interested Christian groups to meet and fellowship around a conversation on integral mission and learn together on a relevant theme / topic that is needed in their country / context.

Apologies for not sending this prayer focus out on Friday 11th November. I was in a region where internet access was not possible. It may be better to actually send it out on a Monday / Tuesday as it gives the whole week for prayer mobilisation. Do let me know what you think.

Don’t forget to send your prayer points in by Thursday each week: [email protected]
