The EFC has been engaged in an exchange with Aeroplan in regards to its Charitable Pooling Program, which initially excluded evangelical causes from participating. ChristianWeek covered the exchange and interviewed Aeroplan employees.
CBC RESPONDS TO EFC COMPLAINT ABOUT DOCUMENTARY ON EVANGELICALS
The EFC filed a complaint regarding blatant mischaracterizations of Evangelicals in a CBC Radio-Canada television “news” documentary. Evangelicals were portrayed as having privileged access and excessive influence with Canada’s current government. The CBC has responded and the complaint process continues.

EFC TO INTERVENE IN RELIGIOUS SPEECH CASE
The EFC has been granted leave to intervene by the Supreme Court of Canada in the Saskatchewan Human Rights Commission vs. William Whatcott case scheduled for October 12, 2011. This case involves the expression of religious comment in public policy dialogue. Read the EFC’s proposed argument.
ENDANGERED REFUGEE DENIED - COULDN’T DESCRIBE JESUS
In this week’s blog “Did Jesus Have Blond Hair and Blue Eyes?” EFC VP Don Hutchinson comments on a Canadian Immigration Board officer’s denial of a refugee claimant who revealed faith information that could result in his torture if deported to China but couldn’t answer questions describing “Jesus as a person.”
EFC VP INVITED GUEST
Aileen Van Ginkel, the EFC VP of ministry services, was an invited guest at the eighth annual symposium of North American Institute for Indigenous Theological Studies (NAIITS) in Calgary, June 9-11. Members of the EFC’s Aboriginal Ministries Council are founding members of NAIITS, which – among other things – encourages the Native North American community to develop and articulate Native North American perspectives on theology and ministry practices.
