CRTC DECISION ON NEW MEDIA
The Evangelical Fellowship of Canada (EFC) thanks everyone who supported our submission to the Canadian Radio-television Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) hearings on new media. The CRTC has decided not to engage in regulation of broadcast content distributed over the internet and through mobile devices.
EFC RESPONDS TO MURDER OF ABORTION DOCTOR
Following the murder of Dr. George Tiller some key media stories launched an attack against all pro-life supporters. EFC Vice-President Don Hutchinson responded to one particularly aggressive article in this letter.
RLC RELEASES REPORT ON RELIGIOUS PERSECUTION IN EGYPT
The EFC’s Religious Liberty Commission released “Religious Freedom in Egypt: The Case of the Christian Minority” this week. The 17-page report examines the major factors contributing to limited religious freedom for Egypt’s Christian citizens and was highlighted on The National Post’s Holy Post website on Monday.
CRCE Research Grant Competition Closes June 22
The Centre for Research on Canadian Evangelicalism’s Canadian Evangelicalism: New Relationships and Structures research grant competition closes June 22. Up to $20,000 in funds are available to be awarded for successful proposals.
Global missions roundtable looks to the future
Matthew Gibbins of the EFC’s Global Missions Roundtable met recently with the EFC staff. He explained why now is a very interesting time to be involved with global missions in Canada and outlined next steps for the partnership. The GMR recently updated its Code of Best Practice in Short-Term Mission (download it for free) and also its Guide to Best Practice In Short-Term Mission (order one for $10).
