The World Evangelical Alliance’s full members have elected a new International Council during the business session of its recent General Assembly in Jakarta, Indonesia. In the two-phase process, Regional Evangelical Alliances each first nominated one representative coming from the National Alliances, followed by a second phase where additional IC members were nominated to achieve diversity of age, gender and ministry. All IC members were unanimously affirmed to serve a full term until the next General Assembly, projected to take place in 2025.
Regional representatives, nominated by national Evangelical Alliances of each region:
Africa: Rev. Dr. Goodwill Shana (re-elected), Founder and Senior Pastor of Word of Life International Ministries in Zimbabwe and President of the Association of Evangelicals in Africa. Dr. Shana will continue to serve as Chairman of the IC.
Asia: Bp. Noel Pantoja (re-elected), National Director of the Philippine Council of Evangelical Churches and member of the Executive Council of the Asia Evangelical Alliance.
Caribbean: Rev. Desmond Austin (newly elected), President of the Trinidad & Tobago Council of Evangelical Churches.
Europe: Dr. Frank Hinkelmann (re-elected), Chairman of the Austrian Evangelical Alliance and President of the European Evangelical Alliance. Dr. Hinkelmann will continue to serve as Vice-Chair of the IC.
Latin America: Ms. Marta Gáspari (newly elected), Public Relations Coordinator of the Alianza Cristiana de Iglesias Evangélicas de la República Argentina.
Middle East & North Africa: Rev. Bassem Fekry (newly elected), General Secretary of the Evangelical Fellowship of Egypt.
North America: Dr. David Guretzki (newly elected), Interim President of the Evangelical Fellowship of Canada and Resident Theologian.
South Pacific: Rev. Brian Winslade (re-elected), Senior Pastor of Hamilton Central Baptist Church in New Zealand and former Chair of the Church Leadership Commission for the Baptist World Alliance. Rev. Winslade was appointed as new Secretary of the IC.
Members-at-Large
Kenneth Artz (re-elected), based in the US and with a background in accounting and active in a range of Christian business and philanthropic organizations. Mr. Artz will continue to serve as Treasurer of the IC.
Dr. Mario Li-Hing (re-elected), President of the Fellowship of Christian Churches in Mauritius and Chairman of the Board of the Association of Evangelicals in Africa.
Dr. Snehal Pinto (re-elected), Director of Ryan International Group of Institutions in India.
Ms. Yamini Ravindran (newly elected), Lawyer and Religious Liberty Director of the Asia Evangelical Alliance and the National Christian Evangelical Alliance of Sri Lanka
Ms. Palmira Santos (newly elected), business woman and national youth minister in Angola.

John E. Langlois, based in Guernsey, UK, Mr. Langlois has served the WEA in a number of roles over many years, including as Chair of its Religious Liberty Commission and as a lifelong member of the International Council.
