According to a report in the Guyana Chronicle newspaper of December 4, 2007 Pastor Ian David was robbed and murdered last Sunday night (December 02, 2007) at the church he pastored, Prophecy One Deliverance Ministry in Hadfield Street.

The church had just concluded three nights of special services and the pastor was in the process of counting the night’s offering when a masked gunman entered the building and demanded the money. The pastor’s fiancée, daughter and son-in-law were present and all were ordered to lie on the floor.

The gunman then proceeded to search the ladies handbags, taking GUY$50,000.00. It is not known how much was taken in all as the counting of the offering had not finished.

Before leaving the church building the gunman shot Pastor David execution style. After the gunman’s departure the pastor was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he was pronounced dead. Pastor David’s daughter Shaundell described her father as “a humble, caring individual who would go all out to bring joy and comfort to individuals.”

According to the Guyana Chronicle, the pastor’s death “has sent shock-waves around Guyana and has left the Christian community in deep mourning.”

Prayer for the family and congregation is requested
