Announcing exciting new developments for the Global Day of Prayer – 2010 and beyond.

This year we celebrated the 10th anniversary of the Global Day of Prayer as 220 nations of the world  participated in small and large gatherings across the earth.  In Cape Town close to 1000 friends from all over the world gathered for the GDOP Conference, prior to the Global Day of Prayer,  to tell His Stories, proclaim His Glory and respond to His Call!

Although there has never been an end date for GDOP, God confirmed our mandate for the road ahead during the GDOP Conference – having established the Global Day of Prayer across the earth our focus will remain a Global Day of Repentance and Prayer on Pentecost Sunday but also  towards deepening the lifestyle of prayer in every nation where GDOP is present by taking hands with many prayer partners and -ministries around the world.

As a result we have two exciting developments to announce.

First, we are honored to announce that Isebel Spangenberg will be taking up the role of the International Coordinator for the Global Day of Prayer from 6  September 2010.  Most of you will know Isebel as the person who has coordinated our prayer efforts across the world for the last number of years as she has communicated with our international regional coordinators.  Etienne Piek will facilitate a hand over to Isebel as he prepares to take up a new post as Chaplain and Spiritual Advisor  within the 24/7 Prayer movement anchored in the UK,  from 1 January 2011.

Etienne’s move is a perfect fit for the mandate that God has given us to deepen the lifestyle of prayer across the globe!  Etienne will continue to serve as a Global Good Will Ambassador for the Global Day of Prayer. We wish him God’s richest blessing as he takes up this exciting new challenge!

Secondly, we are pleased to announce an exciting makeover of the Global Day of Prayer Website – please visit http://www.globaldayofprayer.com to see the changes that we have made.  The new style website is designed to offer resources for prayer mobilization and support across the globe.  Here you will find many resources that could help you to mobilize your community for the Global Day of Prayer in 2011, as well as resources to develop and deepen an ongoing lifestyle of prayer.

We give thanks to God for your partnership, prayers and support over the past 5 years & may God hear our prayers, forgive our sin and heal our land! (2 Chron 7.14)!  We are truly excited about all that God has planned for the years to come.

With God’s richest blessing,

Graham Power
(Chairman of the Global Day of Prayer and Unashamedly Ethical campaign).
