EFC PRESIDENT SPEAKS TO RELIEF AND DEVELOPMENT FORUM
Bruce J. Clemenger, president of The Evangelical Fellowship of Canada, is the key note speaker this week at the Canadian Christian Relief and Development Forum (CCRDA). Clemenger will speak on the theme "For such a time as this: Speaking to Princes, Policy Makers and the Public." CCRDA members contribute more than $500 million annually to international relief and development projects.
FAITH LEADERS MEET WITH LIBERAL LEADER
EFC President Bruce J. Clemenger met with Liberal Party Leader Michael Ignatieff as part of the Interfaith Forum dialogue with leaders of the federal political parties on issues of domestic and global poverty. Evangelical organizations are significant contributors to international relief and development, and to social programs in Canada where religious organizations are the second largest provider of social services, second only to governments.

EFC ON PARLIAMENT HILL FOR FORUM ON RELIGIOUS PERSECUTION
Don Hutchinson, EFC vice-president, and Anita Levesque, co-ordinator for public policy initiatives and the Religious Liberty Commission, participated in the Parliamentary Forum on Religious Persecution organized by David Anderson, MP (Cypress Hills – Grasslands) on March 21.
CHILD PROTECTION BILL MOVES TO SENATE
Bill C-54, the Protecting Children from Sexual Predators Act, supported by the EFC, passed third reading in the House of Commons and is in the Senate for consideration. This bill proposes to increase the mandatory minimum sentences for a variety of Criminal Code offences involving sexual crimes against children.
INTERNSHIP PROGRAM PROVIDES UNIQUE STUDENT OPPORTUNITY
The EFC’s Centre for Faith and Public Life has developed a Law and Public Policy Summer Internship Program for post-secondary students. Successful candidates will have a unique opportunity to work in the nation’s capital on various public policy and legal matters while being mentored by CFPL’s legal counsel; policy analyst, Canadian and international poverty; or, coordinator of public policy initiatives.
