Introducing WEA’s Senior Communications Officer

Daoud Kuttab

A Palestinian Christian journalist based in Jerusalem and Amman, Daoud Kuttab is the founder of the Community Media Network, which operates Radio al-Balad and the digital platform AmmanNet. His writing on Middle Eastern affairs has appeared in leading international outlets including The Washington Post, Los Angeles Times, Newsweek Foreign Policy, Haaretz, and The New York Times. He is also a regular columnist for Al-Araby Al-Jadeed, Arab News (English), and Al-Monitor.

He previously served as Ferris Professor of Journalism at Princeton University and lectures globally on media freedom and digital regulation in the Arab world. He founded and directed the Institute of Modern Media at Al-Quds University until 2007 where he also was executive producer of the Palestinian version of Sesame Street a peace production that included the American producers along with Israeli and Jordanian versions of the famous children’s television program with emphasis of mutual respect. He is a founding member and former board chair of ARIJ (Arab Reporters for Investigative Journalism).

Christian-related studies, positions and works:

Active in Christian media and leadership, he is a member of Amman Baptist Church, a graduate of Messiah College, USA and a former elected member of the Jordan Evangelical Council Alliance. He contributes to Religious News Service, Word & Way, and Christian Daily International, and publishes a regional Christian platform. He is also a publisher of a Christian website milhilard.org/en for Jordan, Palestine and Israel. one of his significant contribution where he published a chapter in Arabic book “Toward a New Mind” (soon to be translated to English) about being an evangelical Christian journalist. He has also contributed to books on faith, media, and communications.

Now retired from full-time work, he continues to serve as an advisor to the Community Media Network. He is married to Salam Madanat and has four adult children.

He is happy to support the work of the WEA as Senior Communications Officer.
