Leadership Transition of Rev. Samuel E. Chiang

The World Evangelical Alliance (WEA) announces that Rev. Samuel E. Chiang will conclude his role as Deputy Secretary General for Ministries and transition into a new capacity as Special Advisor to the Secretary General, effective 1st March, 2026.

This transition reflects both gratitude and strategic focus.

Over the past years, Rev. Chiang has served the global evangelical family with vision, discipline, and deep relational commitment. His leadership has strengthened WEA’s ministries framework, expanded global collaboration, and positioned the Alliance as a catalytic convener within the worldwide Church.

Among his key contributions:

Global Evangelism Network – At WEA’s request, Rev. Chiang formed the Global Evangelism Network, bringing together major evangelistic networks and leaders across regions for greater strategic alignment and collaboration.

Future of the Gospel Forum (2023) – He convened and architected this landmark gathering, introducing first-of-their-kind global conversations that advanced theological reflection and strengthened cross-network engagement.

GA2025 – Seoul – GA2025 marked a significant milestone in the life of the Alliance. Through careful design and global consultation, the Assembly did more than gather leaders—it clarified a shared horizon. Its theological affirmations, strategic initiatives, and renewed relational trust reinforced WEA’s commitment to the vision of “The Gospel for Everyone by 2033.” Rev. Chiang’s leadership in shaping the architecture and long-term integration of GA2025 has left a lasting imprint on the Alliance’s trajectory.

Rev. Chiang’s transition also reflects his lifelong calling to catalyze discipling, mentoring, and global leadership development. In this next season, he will devote increased attention to the Global Pastoral Training Alliance—of which WEA is a founding member—while investing more intentionally in mentoring younger leaders worldwide.

As Special Advisor to the Secretary General, Rev. Chiang will continue to provide strategic counsel and global relationship-building in areas central to WEA’s mission and future direction.

Rev. Chiang shared: “It has been a profound privilege to serve alongside God’s passionate servants from every region of the world. The work has stretched and refined us—planting seeds into prepared soil with faith and perseverance. We now entrust the fruitfulness to the Lord of the harvest. As I continue in an advisory capacity, I invite your prayers for wisdom, clarity, and bold progress toward the vision of the Gospel for Everyone by 2033.”

Rev. Adv. Botrus Mansour, Secretary General of the World Evangelical Alliance, expressed appreciation for Rev. Chiang’s service and affirmed continued partnership in this next chapter.

Dr. Peirong Lin will continue to serve full time as the Chief of Staff under Rev. Mansour
