On July 25, 2024, over 110 participants from 24 nations participated in the ‘Research for Impact’ Webinar, hosted by the WEA Women’s Commission and Rise in Strength. We were greatly encouraged by the interest in research.

During this session, we discovered that over half the participants are currently involved in research or desire to start their research journey. Over 100 others registered yet were unable to join the live event, so the recorded session was emailed to all registrants along with links to curated resources for researchers at various levels and stages of development and planning.

The expressed interest and dynamic dialogue affirmed the importance of research as a topic for discussion. The chat was brimming with questions and requests for PowerPoints, tips, and tools throughout the sessions. Presenters Claire Gibbons, Harriet Ngugi, Elsa Pereira and Diane Marshall provided diverse approaches, backgrounds and research topics adding complexity and depth to the webinar. What a lively group!

The webinar team welcomed the opportunity to engage more intentionally, and so far, five participants have taken part in one-on-one mentoring sessions with presenters. We hope to continue to offer more mentoring opportunities alongside upcoming webinars and appreciate your interest and engagement.

As you may remember, the ‘Research for Impact’ webinar is part of a series on topics connecting faith and action. The third webinar in the series entitled, ‘When Theory Meets Practice: Aligning Belief, Values and Action to Bring Practical Change,’ is scheduled for:

Monday, October 28th at 12 pm UTC/GMT (please note the slightly later time)

This next webinar will look at how to bring change to organisations that may not know how to effectively balance their rich heritage and tradition with the express need to be relevant today. This session will also aim to answer the following questions:

  • How do we align our beliefs and values as Christians with practical action, especially in areas that impact women and families?
  • How can Christians positively impact the public sphere?
  • What happens if we can’t agree?

Panelists from around the globe will share their experience and expertise so please mark the date, October 28th at 12 pm (UTC/GMT), on your calendar.  More to come soon…
