In a world where young people are navigating extraordinary spiritual, cultural, and digital complexities, the World Evangelical Alliance (WEA) Youth Commission gathered in Durres Albania, from February 28th to March 2nd 2025, to reimagine the future of global youth ministry. This landmark event drew together regional representatives of youth ministries and senior leaders across the WEA family, all united by a shared conviction: the next generation needs more than isolated programs. They need visionary, Spirit-led leadership and structures built to endure. Over three days of prayerful collaboration, the Commission unveiled a bold, collaborative roadmap designed to serve youth with integrity, innovation, and intentional global partnership.
Hosted in the heart of the Balkans, this strategic gathering embodied a global moment with a generational mandate. The Youth Commission, acting as both a voice for and a bridge to young people, welcomed representatives from every continent. Delegates included Amit Khaira (Australia/Oceania), Gerald Bognates (Latin America), John Mridha (Asia), Steve Zacharias (North America), and Trivina Kassis (Middle East and North Africa).

Central to the Commission’s new direction is a document titled “A Re-Envisioned Journey”, signalling a shift from committee-based operations to a more dynamic, movement-like approach. The phrase “Break the System” emerged as a unifying theme, calling for the dismantling of outdated models in favor of fresh, mission-centered practices. With a focus on digital discipleship, strategic alliances, and equipping Gen Z and Gen Alpha for resilient faith, the Commission affirmed its commitment to sustainable impact and holistic growth.
Daily devotions, led by Rev. Esme Bowers, Dr. Goodwill Shana, and Rev. Ashish Hirday, reminded us that youth ministry must be rooted in Christ before it can be fruitful in the world. Dr. Shana’s call to “Build God’s Church” challenged to lead with spiritual clarity and integrity, while Rev. Hriday’s reflections encouraged authentic, character-driven leadership.
Looking ahead to the WEA General Assembly in October 2025, in a fractured and fast-changing world, this gathering served as a powerful reminder that the next generation doesn’t need another program they need purpose, presence, and prophetic leadership. And that is precisely what the WEA Youth Commission is now set to deliver.
