The 2025 Singapore–Malaysia Chinese Pastors and Leaders Summit, organized by the World Chinese Christianity Alliance (WCA), a movement under the World Evangelical Alliance, and co-organized by the Singapore Chinese Christianity Alliance and the Malaysia Chinese Christianity Alliance, was held successfully from May 12–14, 2025, in Johor Bahru, Malaysia.
With the theme “Continuity with Innovation, Faithful in Every Generation” the summit brought together over 260 church leaders, seminary scholars, and professional leaders from more than ten countries and regions—primarily from Singapore, Malaysia, and the broader Asia-Pacific region. The event focused on two strategic priorities: spiritual discipleship and intergenerational leadership succession, creating a space for deep dialogue, resource sharing, and visionary collaboration.
A Forum of Shared insights and new ideas
Supported by WCA as part of its mission to strengthen Chinese churches globally, the summit provided a platform to address pressing issues confronting today’s church. Renowned speakers from Singapore, Malaysia, Taiwan, and Macau—including seminary presidents, pastoral leaders, and cross-disciplinary experts—shared insights on a wide array of topics including biblical theology, pastoral practice, media and missions, church governance, and cultural transformation.
In response to the challenges of globalization, disruptions caused by digital advancements, and shifting moral and ethical landscapes, speakers offered faith-based perspectives and practical strategies to equip church leaders to remain rooted in biblical truth while engaging contemporary culture effectively.

Key topics explored include:
- Preserving biblical truth and gospel mission across generations
- The impact of digital media on spiritual communities
- Navigating gender and ethical challenges
- Discipling and empowering emerging generations of leaders
Building Connections Across Borders
In addition to keynote sessions, the summit featured interactive forums, specialized lectures, and practical workshops, fostering dynamic exchange across generations and regions. Participants engaged in meaningful conversations around church renewal, discipleship strategies, and innovative mission models, laying the groundwork for a robust, regional spiritual network.
Rev. Lau Hui Ming, President of the Sarawak Chinese Annual Conference of the Methodist Church in Malaysia, noted:
“The summit offered a wide-ranging, strategic perspective on the challenges facing the Chinese church today and served as a meaningful platform for mutual learning and collaborative kingdom work.”
Intergenerational Mission: Forward Together
This gathering underscored the importance of intergenerational collaboration. More than an academic forum, it was a spiritual encounter where hearts aligned, and visions converged.
Mdm. Jane Pao Lim, General Secretary of the Communion of Chinese Churches in Indonesia, shared:
“This was a refreshing and transformative experience. The diversity and relevance of the speakers brought clarity and hope to the pressing challenges facing both the church and families today.” She further expressed how the summit deepened her understanding of the identity and mission of Chinese Christians, inspiring renewed faith among believers in Indonesia.
Many echoed the call for such summits to be held regularly to cultivate stronger unity and strategic cooperation across the region.

Announcements for Two Follow-Up Initiatives
To sustain the momentum, organizers announced two significant upcoming initiatives:
- April 7–8, 2026:
A Southeast Asia Pastors and Leaders Strategic Roundtable will convene key regional pastors and decision-makers for focused dialogue and future planning. - May 2027:
A Southeast Asia Pastors and Leaders Summit will be held on an international scale to unite leaders across cultures, generations, and ministry sectors, building a collaborative, mission-driven Chinese church network.
