“It is my privilege as a Patron of the Transformation Africa/Global Day of Prayer movement to commend with all my heart both the conference preceding the Global Day of Prayer at the end of May next year, and the Global Day itself.  It is a historic movement of the Spirit of God to have brought forth this worldwide prayer initiative birthed in the heart of Cape Town through the initiative of Graham Power, and spreading out from there across South Africa, across the African continent and around the world.  I believe that when God is planning a new move of His Spirit, whether nationally or worldwide, He births it in the prayer initiatives of His people.  May we not miss the significance of the sign and may all of us, in obedience, be part of what our Lord is wanting to do at this time for the extension of His Kingdom and the blessing of Planet Earth”

Dear Friends
“The World is coming to Cape Town . . . and South Africa”! These are the words that echo on our Radio and Television stations nowadays. At the entrance and exits to our International Airports big counters can be seen, counting down the days to something that is believed to change the face of South Africa forever – the 2010 Soccer World Cup.  Roads and the rest of our nation’s infrastructures are being given a face-lift, hotels and guest houses upgraded and tourist attractions and restaurants revamped.  All across the nation there is unprecedented excitement as this will be the first time ever that an event of this proportion will be held in Africa.
However, it is not only about the Soccer World Cup. For the believers in Cape Town,  2010 is a year of spiritual significance! Throughout 2010 Cape Town will host various Christian gatherings and conferences, attended by representatives from all over the world. From our perspective the most significant of all will be 23 May 2010 – the 10th Anniversary of the birth of the vision for an annual Day of Repentance and Prayer, culminating into a Global Day of Prayer.  And to Celebrate the Miracle of GDOP, we are once again inviting the World to join us as we “humble ourselves and Seek His Face” (2 Chronicles 7:14)
Imagine that once again on this day, 23 May 2010, hundreds of millions of Christians in all the countries of the world would gather for repentance and prayer – whether it be in a stadium, coliseum or arena full of people or just a few believers coming together in secret for fear of persecution.  This would once again be the miracle of the global church interceding in unity for healing and restoration (Ephesians 4:1 – 16).

Will we see a glimpse of the fulfillment of Habakkuk 2:14 : “For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea.”?

The urgent call from Joel 2 will echo throughout the nations to return to God with repentance and brokenness on a level never seen before. Yes, this would be a time of rendering our hearts to God to see the fulfillment of the promise of the outpouring of the Holy Spirit on all flesh.

To celebrate the 10 years of His Glory, His Story and His Call we will be going back to the Newlands Rugby Stadium in Cape Town where the very first gathering of 45 000 Christians was held in 2001.  Imagine your country being represented by having two or more people from your nation at the Newlands Stadium event on 23 May 2010. Dare we dream to see all countries represented in national attire, carrying their national flag and adding their prayers to the multitude of prayers around the globe?
This event will be preceded by a 2 day-conference where leaders from different streams (Prayer, Transformation, Mission, Church and Youth) are invited to share the ‘untold stories’ of the ‘unknown heroes of faith’ as we share in His Glory.
Father Anton Cruz from India and the Royal Kids as well as Father Samaan from the Cave Church in Egypt will be amongst those who will be sharing what God is doing in their midst. YOU are also invited to be with us during this time. For more information and to register please visit www.gdop2010.com.
Let’s make 2010 a year of spiritual significance that will change the face of the world forever!

Many Blessings

The GDOP Team
