NAE Launches New Effort to Curb Abortion Rate

In an effort to pursue common ground towards reducing the number of abortions in the United States, the NAE announced a new initiative focusing on respecting sex and respecting life. The NAE Generation Forum will explore practical and realistic approaches to curtail the high abortion rate in this country. Particular focus will be placed on young adults since they, not teenagers, have the majority of abortions. (read more)

NAE Ad Urges Bipartisan Immigration Reform

The NAE published a full-page color advertisement in Roll Call, a newspaper widely read by politicians and staffers on Capitol Hill. The May 13th ad, signed by 13 senior evangelical leaders, called for bipartisan action this year to overhaul the nation’s broken immigration system. (read more)

NAE Defends Students’ Religious Freedom

The NAE filed a co-amici in the Morgan et al. v. Plano Independent School District case involving a public school’s suppression of student written speech of religious content. The Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that the school district may ban virtually all non-verbal student speech in any school-related context. The NAE joined the Cato Institute and the Becket Fund for Religious Liberty in urging the Supreme Court to take up the case. (read more)

NAE Comments on Prison Rape Elimination Standards

Leith Anderson, President of the NAE, and Galen Carey, Director of Government Affairs, submitted comments to the Department of Justice regarding the adoption of standards to eliminate rape and sexual abuse of prisoners. (read more)

Respecting Sex and Reducing Abortions: What Can Churches Really Do?

The NAE will hold a forum to discuss how evangelical churches can practically bring down the number of abortions in their congregations and communities and foster an environment where sex is respected and life is cherished. David Clark, provost of Bethel University, will keynote the forum in Eden Prairie, Minn., on June 4. (read more)

Plan to get involved in Micah Challenge’s Lend a Hand campaign on 10/10/10 by hosting a  Micah 2010 church service, praying for the poor, and making a hand-print to signify your commitment and sending it to your Congressional representatives.
