Pastor Attacked in INDIA
Pastor Prakash has been a pastor for 10 years now at Kaiwara village, Bangalore Rural District, India. He has 80 members in his church. He has expanded his outreach to the Kaiwara village where there are 15 believers. This is where Pastor Prakash ran into trouble. On October 4th, while he was ministering to the people there, he was attacked by 25 Bajrang Dal extremists. He was accused of cheating people and was later charged with complaints of “illegal activity.” The people, whom Pastor Prakash was ministering to, provided evidence that the pastor had not done anything illegal but had been there to pray with them. As far as it is known he is currently still in custody.
v Pray that Pastor Prakash will be released from prison.
v Pray that the members of Pastor Prakash’s church will remain strong in the Lord during this difficult time.
v Pray that through this difficult circumstances that some will come to know the salvation of the Lord.
Church in Danger of Closing in UK
When one thinks of worshiping God within a community of believers, two things normally come to mind: the preaching of the Word and singing praises. In an article written by Andrea Minichiello Williams, a barrister and the Director of the Christian Legal Centre, UK we learn that for the Immanuel House of Worship Church in London, singing praises has ultimately forced them into a state of silence. A complaint was filed against the church because their worship was too loud for the Muslim neighbours. After a complaint was filed, an environmental officer informed the pastor of the church that the noise has to be reduced so that the neighbors would not be offended. So the church took action by reducing the worship and meetings of the church. The church also decided not to rent out its property so that the noise would not irritate its neighbours. This cost the church a lot of revenue. After the church did all this to accommodate the neighbours, the visiting officer’s tone changed for some reason. The officer said that drums and amplifiers were not needed in the past so they are not need now. An abatement notice was then issued against the church. The church no longer uses drums in its service and now limits its worship time to just 20 minutes. Immanuel House of Worship has done all that it can do. The only option left would be to close the doors.
v Pray that God will change the heart of the Muslim neighbours.
v Pray that the church will not be discouraged during this time of trial.
v Pray that the courts will see that singing praises is a fundamental part of worship that should not be silenced.
International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church 2009
Next prayer point we will share,(listed at the IDOP-international website (www.idop.org)) is about the HINDU WORLD, where Christians may face persecution from militant Hindus, and discrimination in the legal system. As shared previously, the International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church (IDOP) — an initiative of the Religious Liberty Commission of the World Evangelical Alliance, takes place every November around the world. As we pray, stay encouraged by the words of a Christian whose husband was killed and whose home was destroyed by Hindu militants in Orissa, India: "Although we no longer have a home, the presence of Jesus in our hearts is a reason for comfort for us."
v Ask God to protect Christians in Nepal and India, most of whom are vulnerable, poor and without a "voice." Pray that they will not feel abandoned but rest in the peace and provision of their Father.
v Pray for God to awaken the people of India to the dangers of militant Hinduism and pray that anti-Christian propaganda will be rejected in preference for truth, openness, harmony and liberty. Pray for the Indian Church to grow in prayerfulness, casteless solidarity, wisdom, grace and perseverance in the face of suffering.
v Pray for the people of Nepal to be united across ethnic and religious lines, and that they will find so much joy in liberty that they will not be tempted by Hindu nationalism. Ask God to give great heavenly wisdom and courage to evangelists in Nepal and to bless their witness.
