On 4th September 2025, key leaders from the World Evangelical Alliance joined the Seoul Organizing Committee in the WEA Seoul General Assembly Briefing and Press Release at the National Press Club in Seoul.

The purpose of this event was to showcase a comprehensive outline of the Seoul General Assembly. With the theme of “Gospel for Everyone by 2033,” different speeches were made to highlight its future-oriented and mission-focused nature.

Dr. Goodwill Shana, Executive Chair, WEA, began with a word of thanks, thanking the Seoul Organizing Committee for their tireless service, steadfast prayers and unwavering commitment to the cause of Christ. He anticipated that the General Assembly “will play a key role in fulfilling the WEA’s mission of uniting evangelical churches.”

He was particularly grateful about the growth in unity he has witnessed through the Seoul Organizing Committee and looks forward to the formation of a stronger unified Korean Evangelical Alliance. Additionally, he added that he hope that evangelical churches and regional evangelical alliances in Asia will closely interact with the WEA and expand the scope of missions and discipleship.

Advocate Botrus Mansour, Secretary General designate, WEA, also expressed his deep felt appreciation to the Korean Church as well as the existing WEA leadership for all the work done thus far. He highlighted his desire to develop relationships, grow connections and together be “co-workers in God’s field.”

Rev. Dr. Jung-Hyun OH, Senior Pastor, Sarang Church, in his address declared that “The Korean church must share the special grace and mission it has received with the world and participate in the transformative work of the Gospel.” For him, hosting the General Assembly is an expression of serving the nations. The Korean church, cognizant of the debt they owe to the Gospel, seeks to pay it forward through the stewarding of global mission.

Other sections that were discussed included the significance of this General Assembly for society, missions and human rights.  The Seoul Declaration, research better understand World Evangelicalism and finally, the Art exhibition of Akiane was also elaborated on.
