The Trinidad and Tobago Council of Evangelical Churches (TTCEC) is holding a Disaster Preparedness Strategy Workshop July 06-08 in preparation for the onset of the 2006 hurricane season. With one named storm already for the season and 16 more in the forecast, the Council is seeking to gear up preparation among Evangelical Christian congregations in the twin-island republic and be able to facilitate effective, speedy response in the event that a major hurricane hits one of the two islands.

TTCEC is partnering with World Relief Corporation (WRC), the emergency relief and development arm of the National Association of Evangelicals in the USA, and the Caribbean Emergency Disaster Relief Agency (CDERA). Mark Smith and Brandon Pustejovsky of WRC and Andria Grosvenor of CEDRA will facilitate the training over the three days. More than 100 participants from across Trinidad and Tobago are expected to attend.

This workshop is a direct result from a regional workshop held by EAC in Barbados April 25-27, 2006. The main facilitator then was Mark Smith from WRC while Andria Grosvenor from CDERA facilitated one morning session.
