Action International Ministries (ACTION) is pleased to announce that Lowell Nelson Reed has been appointed its International Director and will assume his new position on March 9, 2007. Reed will be installed during the annual meeting of the mission’s International Council, to be held next year in Conwy, Wales.

He was selected by the council last February and has spent the year working closely on transitional matters with current International Director Doug Nichols, ACTION‘s Founder.

Prior to joining the mission in 1980, Reed was the Dean of Men at Prairie Bible College in Three Hills, Alberta, . He was instrumental in forming ACTION in 1980, and also served nine years as director of ACTION .

At present Reed serves as ACTION’s Southeast Asia Regional Coordinator and is one of the area pastors at the 10,000-member Christ Commission Fellowship in Manila, . He has been the Associate International Director of ACTION since 1994.

Nelson and his wife, Linda (Jespersen), have four grown children, Jenny (Tanchi), Rebecca, Benjamin, and Stephen, and one grandson, Caleb Tanchi.

As part of his new responsibilities, Reed plans to assemble an international team of missionary assistants to provide resources, help, and facilitation for the expansion of the mission’s ministries.

Doug Nichols will continue to be active in the mission by serving on Reed’s international team in the development of international leaders for ministry and the training of facilitators for ACTION‘s Pastoral Leadership Development and the worldwide Children in Crisis outreach.

Pray for Nelson and Linda as they move into this important leadership aspect of ACTION which now has 212 missionaries in 21 countries of Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin America, and North America .
