In Meeting with Vietnam Ambassador, WEA Representative to UN Offers Prayer and Support amid Recent Local COVID-19 Outbreaks

WEA Newly Appointed Permanent Representative to the UN-NY visits His Excellency Dang Dinh Quy, Permanent Representative of Vietnam to the United Nations in New York, to express thanks for the exemplary work of the government of Vietnam in their efforts to minimize the effects of Covid 19 and offer prayer and support to affectively handle the recent outbreak.  
On Monday, June 14, World Evangelical Alliance’s (WEA) Permanent Representative to the United Nations in New York John Girgis met with His Excellency Dang Dinh Quy, Permanent Representative of Vietnam to the United Nations in New York. During their warm conversation, Mr. Girgis complemented Vietnam’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic that has successfully prevented the virus from spreading among its population. Unlike many other nations around the world, Vietnam has seen very low numbers of infections thanks to the governments effective handling of the pandemic.
In recent weeks, there has been an outbreak, which the authorities are working towards containing. Mr. Girgis expressed his confidence in the government but also recognized the health concerns as well as the economic challenges that the country faces in the months ahead.

“I am very grateful for the warm welcome I received from Mr. Quy and the good conversations we had,” Mr. Girgis said. “I assured Mr. Quy of our prayers for him, his family and the nation of Vietnam.”
We take note that the media recently mentioned an evangelical church where some members had been infected with the coronavirus and that it spread to others, so we pray that the outbreak will be over soon and for all the affected to recover well,” Girgis added, and said: “We also continue to pray for the government to be successful in their efforts to contain the pandemic and offer our help in any way we can through our churches in Vietnam and with our international network.]]>
