Following months of deliberations on what would become the new leadership structure of the World Evangelical Alliance (WEA), the International Council (IC) has put forward a model of three core leaders that together form the Office of the Secretary General. Bp Efraim Tendero, WEA Secretary General and CEO, will be assisted by two Deputy Secretary Generals for Ministries and Operations respectively.

“The new triumvirate of the Secretary General’s Office is aimed at ensuring greater efficiency and effectiveness. Recognizing the great demands of that office, the tasks will be shared by three-person team,” Bp Tendero commented.

Godfrey Yogarajah, who has already served as Deputy Secretary General since March last year, has been appointed by the IC to lead the ministry side of the leadership team. In his adjusted role, Yogarajah will now oversee all the programmatic departments, which currently include Alliance Development, Church in Community, Missions and Evangelism, Public Engagement and Theological Concerns.

The Deputy Secretary General for Operations who is yet to be appointed will oversee administration, finance, communications, membership and fundraising. A search is currently underway to find a gifted person to fill this newly created role.

The revised leadership structure will come into effect as of July 1.
