On 19 August 1846 more than 800 evangelical Christians heard and answered God’s call to unite, to be ‘one body in Christ’ and came together to spark a movement that would spread around the world.

We’re older than colour photography, Alexander Graham Bell’s telephone, the lightbulb and the radio. We’ve survived two world wars and countless other conflicts. We’re even older than the first editions of Jane Eyre and Wuthering Heights.

So we’re going to be celebrating God’s faithfulness to the Alliance and we’d love for you to join us. We’ve got an anniversary special edition of idea magazine – taking a deeper look at what it means to be evangelical – and it’s an opportunity to find out more about the Alliance’s impressive history, and to take part in our special 170th Anniversary Appeal.
