THE SCOPE
Greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ!
Time has flown by since our last edition of the Afroscope in June and we remain indebted to share with you what God is doing on this side of his vineyard.
During this period, we have been privileged to host the AEA Board Members in Nairobi, Kenya. These revered men and women carry the aspirations, hopes and expectations of our constituency.  Their service to the Church in Africa and support to the secretariat has been immaculate over the years.  The board also sanctioned the change of venue of the 11th AEA General Assembly from Freetown, Sierra Leone to Accra, Ghana, at the Church of Pentecost Convention Centre .This was chiefly due to logistical reasons. The dates of the GA remain the same. More information on accommodation costs will be communicated shortly. Read more
AEA GENERAL ASSEMBLY MOVED TO GHANA

The General Assembly of the Association of Evangelicals in Africa (AEA), scheduled to be held in November 23-27, 2014 in Freetown, Sierra Leone will now be held in Accra, Ghana, at The Church of Pentecost Convention Centre. The change has been necessitated due to logistical reasons and for circumstances beyond our control. The dates remain the same. The costs  will be conveyed in due course. Any inconvenience coursed by the change is deeply regretted.
INVOLVING THE RELIGIOUS COMMUNITY IN THE POST 2015 AGENDA

Faith Leaders from across the continent came together at the Commonwealth Resort in Munyonyo, Kampala,Uganda for the African Faith Leaders’ Summit on the 1st and 2nd of July.

The summit, which was hosted by the Inter-Religious Council of Uganda with support from the Government of Uganda, was organized under the theme: Enhancing Faith Communities Engagement on the Post-2015 Development Agenda. The summit’s main aim was to scale up the engagement of Faith Communities and Faith Leaders in shaping the Post 2015 Development Agenda. Read more
4/14 WINDOW: THE AFRICAN CHILD CONFERENCE
4/14 window Kenya hosted the 2014 African Child Conference from June 26th to 28th at the All saints Cathedral in Nairobi, Kenya, under the theme, Moving Africa towards Commitment to the Child and Family. The conference was aimed at mobilizing efforts towards the welfare of children in Africa and promoting action, collaboration and networking consistent with  the best interest of children. In attendance were organisation leaders, pastors, welfare institutions, health workers and government representatives. Read more
A MOTHER'S CALL TO PRAYER
In some parts of Africa, May 25th was Mothers’ Day. On that day, I could not forget the Nigerian mothers whose girls were kidnapped by terrorists. How these mothers would have loved to receive words from their daughters on that day!
I also remember other mothers whose hearts are broken. Many African mothers have children who were forced to prostitute themselves because of poverty and ignorance. I remember the other mothers whose girls were lost to AIDS, drugs, rebellion, violence or terrorism. We should grieve with them, but we can do much more. Read more

“From Lament to Action”

We have reflected on the development challenges of our time, in particular poverty, security, co- existence, disease burden, resource harnessing and exploitation; governance, environmental degradation, global warming and attending negative change in climate, maternal and child mortality, socio-economic and political exclusion,  all of which, acting  individually and in concert, retard creation and deny a life of dignity to God’s people.
We recognize the efforts of governments and the international actors to address these challenges and the positive impact these have had, particularly since the launch of the Millennium Development Goals. Read more
